- Background: Kambosos will begin rebuilding against Hughes after consecutive losses to Devin Haney cost the Australian at the cost of his undisputed 135-pound weightlifting championship and the respect he earned by beating Teofimo Lopez in New York City to become champion in 2021. Haney overcame Kambosos to win one. one-way decision and titles last June in Melbourne. Boxer Sydney lost one the decision is even broader in a rematch four months later in the same town. Kambosos is still ranked by all four major sanctioning bodies, as high as the WBC’s 6th place. Hughes, a 33-year-old boxer from Rossington, England, is a capable but light-handed boxer. He has won seven straight games since losing a decision to Liam Walsh in 2019, including a crucial majority decision against Kid Galahad last September. That got him into the Top 11 in two alphabetical institutions. This will be Hughes’ second game outside the UK. He beat Viktor Kotochigov in Dubai in 2020.
