BMW iX2 xDrive30 M Sport 2024 in Malaysia – 449 km electric range; from RM283k; RM7k more than iX1 xDrive30
After the beginning of Received orders for BMW iX2 last month, we now have the full specs sheet of the iX1’s more stylish sibling. Offered as a single xDrive30 M Sport variant, the all-electric iX2 retails for RM297,000 on-the-road without insurance, including an extended five-year warranty and a six-year service plan – without this package, the price drops to RM282,800.
The iX2’s powertrain is identical to the The most advanced iX1, with an all-wheel drive setup, the twin motors have 313 PS (308 hp or 230 kW) – with temporary boost function – and 494 Nm of torque. This setup is good for a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h.
Power for the electric motor is provided by a lithium-ion battery with a total energy capacity of 66.5 kWh (64.7 kWh net). Thanks to its sleeker shape, the iX2 has a higher WLTP rated range of 449 km compared to the iX1 xDrive30 which is rated at 438 km.
However, charging times are the same, achieving a 10-80% state of charge in 29 minutes at a maximum DC input of 130 kW. There is also slower AC charging at 11 kW, meaning a full charge from 0-100% takes 6.5 hours.
Standard equipment for the iX2 includes the M Sport package that brings more aggressive front and rear bumpers, 20-inch M-spoke 873 M bi-color light-alloy wheels, high-gloss Shadowline M with open content wide (grille, tailgate logo and mirror caps in black), Iconic Glow front grille, M sports brakes (dark blue metal calipers), adaptive M suspension, acoustic glass comfort and adaptive LED headlights.
Inside, you can choose from Veganz synthetic leather or a combination of Veganz and Alcantara, lightweight ‘Hexacube’ aluminum interior trim, M leather steering wheel, electrically adjustable front sports seats, headrests anthracite, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, wireless charging pad and 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
There’s also the Live Cockpit Professional system (10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen), while the infotainment system (powered by BMW 9) is integrated with ConnectedDrive and Connected Package Professional services including support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Our iX2 comes with the Driving Assistant Plus package, which includes functions such as Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Speed Limit Information, Automatic Speed Limit Assist, Lane Departure Warning , automatic emergency braking and Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go.
Parking Assist Plus is also included and includes Active Parking Distance Control (front and rear parking sensors), Reverse Parking Assist, Side Parking Assist, 360-degree camera as well as Dash Recorder and Remote Theft Recorder.
Seven colors are offered for the iX2, namely Alpine White, Sapphire Black, Skyscraper Grey, Cape York Blue, Fire Red, M Portimau Blue and M Brooklyn Grey. Every purchase comes with an eight-year, 100,000-mile battery warranty, roadside assistance and accident hotline, and BMW Service Online.
Priced at RM297,000 (or RM282,800 with the standard two-year vehicle warranty), the iX2 xDrive30 M Sport is RM7,000 more than the iX1 xDrive30 M Sport. For that premium price, you get a coupe-like design that also offers a bit more range, along with more expressive exterior features. Is it worth it?
