Ford Ranger and Everest recalled

Ford Australia is recalling 4841 examples of the Ranger ute and Everest SUV to fix an issue that may cause the transmission to shift into park on its own.

This recall affects current-generation Ford Ranger and Everest models produced between 2021 and 2023.

“Due to a software issue, under certain circumstances if the battery level drops below a critical threshold, the transmission may shift into Park when the vehicle is travelling at speeds below 6km/h,” said the company in its recall notice.

“This may cause a sudden stop without the rear brake lamps illuminating as intended.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you will be contacted by Ford Australia in writing asking you to make an appointment at your preferred Ford dealer to have a repair of the exit warning system, free of charge.

If you have further questions you can contact the Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 133 673.
