Omoda 3 is expected to launch in 2026 with an aggressive design
To say that Chery moves at breakneck speed would be a complete understatement. Just launched on the market Omoda 5 last year and electric E5 This year, the crossover sub-brand – yes, it’s technically separate from the main Chery brand – unveiled its larger model. Omoda 7 this week. Now we know there will be an Omoda 3 soon!
“Hopefully it will have a ‘big’ design,” said Shawn Xu. Omoda & Jaecoo Global CEO at a press conference in Wuhu, China. The image (above) used at the dealer conference is clearly an early design sketch/concept, but it’s certainly a wild-looking crossover worthy of that description. We’ll have to wait and see how many of those will make it to the production version.
As for when that will happen, we should be looking at 2026 at the earliest, as the Omoda 3 is not named in the 2024/2025 launch sheet (above) presented to dealers here. However, what is listed is the Omoda 7 PHEV as well as the Omoda E5 facelift, both of which are scheduled for launch in 2025.
It’s also unclear how Omoda 3 will actually fit into Chery Malaysia’s range. With the Omoda 5 priced against the Proton X50 and the upcoming Tiggo 4 expected to compete with the Perodua Ativa and Honda WR-V, your guess is as good as ours on where the new O3 will sit.
