I have always enjoyed its EF predecessor, which was my first professional lens and has been in my possession throughout the development of my equipment collection. I was especially impressed by the bokeh effect in this version. Even in a busy background, it looks exceptionally smooth and pleasing, and when combined with the better compression of the longer focal length, impressive colors and contrast, it looks like this would be a pretty popular lens.
