Before Kell Brook brutally closed his rivalry with Amir Khan, Eddie Hearn envisioned a duel between the former IBF weightlifter and current weight class contender, Conor Benn.

Given that Benn has stepped past everyone in front of him, Hearn believes he has a future superstar and soon-to-be world champion on his hands. More than anything, the longtime promoter is trying to boost Benn’s popularity while increasing his overall profile.

Although Hearn believes a win over Brook will do the trick, he revealed that reaching the terms of a financial settlement with Brook is completely impossible at this point.

Hearn said in an interview with IFL TV: “I don’t want to tell you what he asked for but it’s a bit OTT (in the upper part). “I basically offered him more than he had to fight Amir Khan. They asked for three times what I gave them.”

In Hearn’s opinion, Brook’s brazen money request puts an all-British contest against Benn for the time being. However, even if Brook does lower his money requirements, Hearn believes he will still be forced to dig deep into his pockets to get another British star, which he is not willing to. do.

“I actually heard that Amir Khan would offer a rematch clause, oddly enough. People have contacted us saying, ‘would you like to pay us to step aside to not invoke the rematch clause.’ You go ahead and do Khan/Brok 2.”

Just a few weeks ago, Brook and Khan settled their rivalry in the ring. After years of pent-up frustration and nagging appeals, Brook defeated Khan one-sidedly in front of a crowded British crowd at Manchester Arena.

Brook brought Khan into submission, forcing referee Victor Loughlin to stop their contest in the sixth inning. However, before the two fought in the ring, as part of long and drawn-out negotiations, Khan installed an immediate rematch clause on his side of the deal. While it’s unclear if Khan will actually claim the right to face Brook again, Hearn is believed to have a good chance of a former Olympic silver medalist and a 140-pound bronze medalist. will do so.

Until Brook settles things down, Hearn has no interest in stalling the career of 25-year-old Benn. With wins over Adrian Granados and Chris Algieri in 2021, Hearn can’t wait to continue Benn’s growth. As for what might happen next, Hearn refrains from naming the exact target. However, he did reveal when people can expect to see Benn step over the ropes again.

“His next fight will be announced on April 16.”
