DesmoSport Ducati reflects on PI as focus now shifts to The Bend

After three 12-lap races at the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Track in weather conditions that can only be described as challenging, Bryan Staring clinched another race win to take second place. two in the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK).
Young teammate Broc Pearson learned a few lessons on his way to eighth place overall for the round as DesmoSport Ducati are now turning their attention to this weekend’s season finale in South Australia. .
DesmoSport Ducati Team Co-Owner – Ben Henry
“It was an exciting weekend that’s for sure. We went from the most ideal track conditions you can get at Phillip Island in Qualifiers, to the wet track. It proved to be in our favor as Bryan was able to push the conditions and win.
“The second lap wasn’t ideal for us in a dry sixth place, but it forced us to regroup, make some changes and give Bryan a Panigale V4 R for him to really get on. can confidently continue racing in the third race. It could have been second, but looking at the timetable for the third race we have a lot of confidence in Bryan and the bike we gave him to finish the season strong at The Bend this weekend.
“However, it has been a challenging weekend for Broc, I think all the drivers agree that it is a tough track to get everything done well and Broc still needs to do some more work. laps on the superbike were there to boost his confidence on the track, but he really did it. You did a great job. He drove smart, worked well with the team and brought the bike home safely, with the scores and data helping us improve both racing bikes. I secretly believe Broc will recover and do well this weekend.“
Bryan stares
“It’s been a great weekend at the track for us, and to be honest, I’m still reviewing all the decisions we’ve made on and off the track to get us to the finish line. together. This is actually the first weekend this year that I leave the track feeling satisfied.
“We were missing something in the dry setup, but in the wet I was very confident and able to make the right decisions to win the race. We ended up making some important changes to the bike setup after the second race and I’ve got a motorcycle that I can really ride with confidence, setting the times strong throughout the race and I believe, if I had had a stronger start, I would have been challenged to win.
“I go into the final round this weekend with second place in the championship, and although the possibility of winning the championship is a math thing, we will focus on getting a strong position. make sure to qualify and see what we can do to get the best results in each race. see where we stand on Sunday afternoon.“
Broc Pearson
“I’m pretty confident going into the weekend, but I have to admit, I’m also a bit nervous as I haven’t had much success at Phillip Island in the past. In the end, it really wasn’t a great weekend for me.
“Qualifying in 13th place, it was always difficult for me to move forward, but I worked hard in every race and I managed to win some places on the track, especially is when the road is wet.
“Personally I may not have had a great weekend, but DesmoSport had a great weekend when Bryan finished second in the championship, and I’m glad I was able to provide more information to the team. to help them make decisions that achieve better results in the end.
“It gives me a lot of confidence going to The Bend this weekend. I really like this track and I’ve had good results there in the past, so I think we can finish the year strong.“
Quick change, DesmoSport Ducati is in South Australia, ready to hit the road at The Bend Motor Sports Complex on Friday for the final two races of the 2022 Australian Superbike Championship this weekend.
