CONMEBOL Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifiers: TV, fixtures, results, standings of the South American Qualifiers
The first of four direct tickets to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar have been booked in South America with five matches remaining. Runaway qualifier leader Brazil (1.34 points) mathematically secured that berth with a home win over Colombia.
Argentina (2nd, 28 points) one step closer to joining his opponent at the big dance competition with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Uruguay (Friday, 16 points). The Argentinian can then earn his place at home against Brazil in a must-see game on Tuesday. Combining other results could see Argentina officially playing against Brazil in Qatar in 2022.
Ecuador (3rd, 20 points) took control of third place after a home win on Day 13, but aim for 4th and 5th place (5th place wins a playoff spot) just strengthened with four teams within two points.
There is a tripartite tie on 16 points regarding Chile, Colombia and Uruguay. Thanks to a 1-0 win over Paraguay, Chile (4th, 16th) extremely find themselves in a qualifying position after their prospects looked bleak just a few months ago.
The hopes of Peru (Saturday, 14 points) revived after a big win at home last Bolivia (9, 12 points), who will be hoping to return to qualifying with a home game on Tuesday, which kicks off that day.

How CONMEBOL . World Cup Qualifiers Work
It’s not complicated in South America. All 10 countries compete in a round-robin format, with each country playing the remaining 9 teams at home and away (18 games in total). That’s three points for a win, one for a draw and zero for each loss.
After 18 matches, the top 4 teams in the standings win the right to go directly to Qatar 2022, while the 5th ranked team will advance to the intercontinental playoff with the ticket to continue is Qatar.
