College football updated polls: AP Top 25, Coach Rankings Post-CFP Championship
For the first time since 1980, Georgia topped the final vote of the college football season.
The Bulldogs claimed their first title in 41 years with a 33-18 victory over No. 1 Alabama in the College Football Playoff championship game Monday. The Bulldogs employed a bend but not break strategy against the Crimson Tide, forcing Alabama to tackle 3 goals on the field in two trips to the red zone. Alabama finally scored its first encounter of the fourth quarter after a controversial scuffle by Stetson Bennett. That took Tide to 18-13, but it ultimately proved unimportant.

Bennett responded to the clumsiness by completing four of four 83-yard passes and two touchdowns to give Georgia a 26-18 lead in the final minutes. The win was punctuated by a 79-yard intercept by Kelee Ringo for touchdown in an Alabama game interception. The Crimson Tide has another chance in the final encounter; it ended with Bryce Young being fired – the game’s fourth man – and sales going down when the clock hit zero.
Bennett finished the game with 17 of 26 passes and two points, while Zamir White and James Cook combined with 161 yards on 19 attempts (8.5 yards each). perform). Young completed 35 of 57 369-yard passes and one touchdown to two interceptions. Alabama tight finish Cameron Latu led all the recipients with 102 meters.
That’s how Georgia took the top spot in the AP Top 25 rankings and Coach Poll. Here’s how that game – plus the rest of the dismal season, broken down as it was – announced the final college football rankings of the year:
