Clash of Heroes – Definitive Edition coming to PlayStation this summer – PlayStation.Blog

“Wait, you’ve never played Clash of Heroes before?” I can’t recall how many times I’ve said this before.

The original title, developed by Capybara Games and published by Ubisoft, was released on PlayStation 3 in 2011. I’m always amazed that I really consider this game a real game design gem, using deep lore. Color the Might & Magic universe to create a unique combination of strategy and puzzle gameplay.

After working before with Ubisoft and getting my hands on Clash of Heroes for the first time, I always had the thought that Clash of Heroes needed a return.

I’ve always considered it an instant classic, providing the perfect “one more game” dynamic when you’re trying to figure out the best build and strategy. Working on an updated version of this game is a personal dream, so it goes without saying that I was enthusiastic when talking to Ubisoft about creating the final version of Clash of Heroes… So let’s talk more about it!

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes – Definitive Edition is coming to PlayStation this summer

A great blend of action and strategy

Clash of Heroes is a turn-based strategy game where you need to take down your opponents with devastating attacks while preparing your defense. To do so, you have a limited number of moves per turn to move units off your board – make sure three fit vertically or at least 3 horizontally to activate your attacks and defenses respectively. As soon as charging is complete, units will move forward and attack your enemy’s board.

Overcoming enemy units will help you directly attack their hero. Once they KO, you win! Pretty simple, right? Well, that’s not really all…

If you happen to match units by removing a unit from your board, you win back an additional move. Mastering this and creating chain reactions on your chessboard will definitely give you the upper hand and help you attack and/or defend more safely.

Each faction brings their dedicated Heroes and units with different play styles. As a member of the Haven faction, Godric has access to the Priestess, an elite unit that, while attacking, heals your hero before firing an energy blast across the battlefield. Members of the Sylvan faction like Anwen can choose dragons that spray acid on the opponent’s battlefield.

Artifacts can also be activated and can be a game changer: strengthen specific units, increase your chance to crit, or decrease the initial strength of your enemy squad… My personal favorite is to do an attack strategy with Necropolis and use a spider cloak: my hero only has 25% health but my units deal 75% more damage than normal which makes it a a strategy with great risks but great rewards. Very useful when your strategy revolves around attacking devastating Death Knights.

Combining your construction into a unique item and spell of your Hero is the key to creating the perfect and unstoppable build. In short, the mantra “easy to learn, hard to master”.

Final version, for all to enjoy

Our experience in bringing back games from the past – 2011 is now a classic, isn’t it? – helped us a lot on this project. As a Definitive Edition, we knew we had to make the best version of this release for both future audiences who didn’t have a chance to play this game at the time and early adopters like like us how great this game is.

In addition to including previously released DLC, adding new playable features and characters, we took the opportunity to add balance, various quality of life improvements, and portraiture. completely new character.

The idea is to retain what made this game great while making it more accessible and enjoyable for a modern audience.

You’ll discover an ever better story mode that I think is the perfect way to explore all the characters, units, spells and artifacts the game has to offer before jumping into what’s going on. for me is the gem of Clash of Heroes: its multiplayer.

The offline and online multiplayer modes are highly addictive and spark a competitive spirit in everyone… Even if you randomly “draw” your available units into the battlefield, it’s basically , it’s your brain against your opponent’s brain: will your synergy work against your enemy’s work? Will you see the different combinations the board is offering you? What level of risk would you be willing to take?

How many times do I think I’ll just doom with a few HP left so I can finally hit my best units, build my defenses where it really matters, and kill you me at 3 a.m., which ended with a night (sorry Vincent!)

We’re looking forward to seeing you join the Clash of Heroes community when our Definitive Edition arrives on PlayStation 4 this summer. We apologize for the upcoming fractured friendship and the cold pizzas.
