Owning and driving an older car is quite fun in many ways. Have nostalgic elementof course, or maybe it is just similar and more attractiveor maybe you just like attention you get it, or perhaps, like most of us at one time or another, buying a new car is financially impossible.
Whatever the reason, we can all agree that technology has made it a lot easier to park new cars, be it ultrasonic sensors, backup cameras or 360 cameras. degree. Perhaps though, through the magic of amazon, you can spend a few dollars and turn your old parking lot into a new one. To test this theory, friends at Donut decided to order a bunch of equipment – some cheap, some expensive and some weird – to try.
Some of these utilities are a good idea in theory but unnecessarily complicated. For example, the parking sensor in the garage can be completely replaced by a tennis ball and a rope. Some, such as wireless backup cameras, are actually super cool ideas but done with as little cost and effort as possible, rendering them essentially e-waste.
Some, such as the audible backup warning, are never fitted to any car, and the person who turned the recycled plastic into that trash has a special place in hell. Not that I feel strongly about it or anything.
Can I fit any of these into my car? Well, I’m not going to drill anything for the ultrasound, and I don’t want to ruin the look of my car with foam bumpers, but I’ll be looking at a higher quality backup camera version. My car has no easy way to set up with My current infotainment systemand it’s not something I need to use all the time.
