Slowpoke Pokemon Park will open mid-April 2023. You can find it in Ayagawa, Kagawa, Japan. The park’s real name is Sunshine Park Ayagawa, but Slowpoke Park would be its nickname. This is because there will be six toys in the playground around the park that look like Slowpoke. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
This is part of my first Pokemon Project from The Pokemon Company. The point of this project is to create more connections between children and Pokemon Franchising. As part of this vision, The Pokemon Company partnered with Ayagawa in Kagawa Prefecture to create Japan’s first Slowpoke Park.
Slowpoke and Kagawa Prefecture are almost inseparable. In fact, Slowpoke is the official ambassador Pokemon of Kagawa Prefecture. You can find slowpoke mailbox, bus, taxi, and so on around the area. This isn’t just because Slowpoke’s Japanese name, “Yadon,” sounds like udon, for which Kagawa is famous. But a lot of Kagawa’s desserts are very sweet, such as the Slowpoke tail and the Pokedex entry in super sun says that when Slowpoke yawns, it rains. This is very important for Kagawa Prefecture, which has historically suffered from drought.
Slowpoke Park in Ayagawa, Kagawa will be open from mid-April 2023. Children will be able to play with Slowpoke-shaped toys once the city opens.
