Chery cooperates with Inokom, turning Malaysia into ASEAN’s manufacturing hub – R&D center RHD, exporting to Australia


At the Malaysian media day Autoshow 2023 today, Chery officially partnered with Inokom to assemble the CKD domestically at Inokom’s 200-acre facility in Kulim. The first two Chery models that will be released from the Kedah factory are omoda 5 And Tiggo 8 Pro SUVs.

Chery’s head of Malaysia also revealed plans to set up an R&D center for the company’s right-hand drive products, which will include testing, training and parts distribution in the region. Initial models assembled in Malaysia will run on ICE engines, but domestic plug-in hybrid production and the full EV is on the card.
