It seems like intentionally leaving the device behind is something that will only cause problems, and in a way, that’s true, but it can actually be beneficial. One of the best ways to get out of your creative rut or expand your palette is to set limits for yourself. It doesn’t really matter what these are: it could be using just a long shutter speed, a certain type of composition, or in this case just a lens. What inspires creativity is forcing your brain to think for you of the problems set by limits, which often leads to images you would never have thought of without it.
