BMW Motorrad R12 nineT 2023 launched at the end of the year

Refreshed in design is the BMW Motorrad R12 nineT 2023 from the Munich company’s heritage line-up. Following the nomenclature used on the R18 cruiser line, the R12 nineT was introduced on the occasion of the “100th anniversary of BMW Motorrad” and replaced the current model. R nineT (from RM99,500 in Malaysia).

The updated R12 nineT is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2023, after which more details will be revealed. The power of the R12 nineT comes from BMW Motorrad’s legendary air- and oil-cooled twin boxer engine, with no details on engine capacity or capacity yet.

For the current R nineT model, the 1,170 cc boxer engine produces 109 hp at 7,250 rpm and 116 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Power goes through a six-speed gearbox with ultimate bearing.

The fuel tank on the R12 nineT has been redesigned, to resemble the classic BMW boxer fuel tank from the 1970s, with the R nineT’s prominent air vent removed. The triangular frame under the driver’s seat is now filled with new side panels, another throwback to the ’70s BMW motorcycles.

Other design changes include a new front fender and LED main headlights with black surround light guides while the dual circular analog/LCD clock design is retained. The watch face is changed to include a BMW circle and a prominent ‘R12’ logo.

It is also worth noting that the cruise control indicator light on the R12 is equipped, a convenience when driving that the slightly naked R nineT does not have. The R12 nineT also features LED taillights integrated into the saddle, allowing for easy customization for riders looking to personalize their bike.
