2023 Perodua Axia rated 4 stars ASEAN NCAP

The 2023 Perodua Axia received a four-star rating from ASEAN NCAP. Under latest 2021-2025 assessment protocolCars are evaluated based on four categories including adult occupant protection (AOP) with a total score of 40 points, while child occupant protection (COP), support safety (SA) and safety for motorcyclists (MS) have a total of 20 points each.

Axia “performed exceptionally well under the current rigorous evaluation protocol” and achieved an overall score of 73.55 points, equivalent to four stars. However, if you look at the individual categories, the D74A achieved a five-star rating for AOP with 32.06 points, COP with 17.03 points and SA with 15.71 points. The overall score has been dragged down to 8.75 points in the MS . category

I guess that means if you just look at the model’s crash potential, how it protects the occupants, the Axia is very much a five-star car despite the overall rating of four.

New Axia, starting from RM38,600 for base G to RM49,500 for AV, with two airbags as standard along with ABS/EBD/BA, VSC, front and rear seat belt reminders and Isofix child seat anchors. The AV comes with six airbags and ASA 3.0, which includes autonomous emergency braking. AEB is something Proton didn’t offer until the X50 Flagship, an RM113k SUV, so to have it in the Axia is great.

The Axia’s top safety kit list also includes lane departure warning and prevention, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and automatic high beams. Only ACC/LKC separates this safety package from Ativa/Alza AV.
