The New York Racing Association has canceled its January 21 live race in Aqueduct race track because of the forecast for extremely cold weather in the New York City metropolitan area.
The National Weather Service’s forecast, in line with the NYRA’s independent weather services, is calling for extremely cold temperatures with the possibility of cold wind values close to zero. As a result, NYRA officials made the decision to cancel Friday’s eight-race card in the interest of the safety of all participants.
Aqueduct will remain open for simulation.
Live racing at the Aqueduct is scheduled to resume January 22 with a nine-race card featuring $100,000 Jazil and $100,000 Franklin Square. The first post on Saturday is 12:20 p.m. ET.
Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races also announced that its Friday night pass will be cancelled. The track is scheduled to resume racing Saturday night with a first posting time of 7pm ET.
Turfway Park near Florence, Ky. Also announced the cancellation of the Friday card.
Oaklawn Park previously announced about it Friday card will be canceled.
