Avanesyan crushes Metz in one round to keep European title

David Avanesyan overcame a brief test against Oskari Metz to retain his European title in less than a round tonight.

Queensberry’s co-main event brought the launch of their latest signing against the Finnish challenger, who couldn’t resist the might of the champion.

Metz smiles as he walks into the ring as the sound of ‘Express Yourself’ by Charles Wright & Watts 103rd The band St.Rhythm accompanied him. Sadly, in the ring, he never had time to show himself in the ring. Finn seemed happy to be with the Armenian and almost too comfortable until a champion’s left hand wobbled him with less than 90 seconds to open the scoring. Not a man to play with his food Avanesyan went to clear the plate and beat his challenger seconds later.

Although she had a smile on her face as she sat up, it wasn’t long before Metz was in trouble. Avanesyan hit multiple hooks that staggered his opponent before referee Giuseppe Quartarone intervened to give him an eighth-placed score. That was enough time for the man in the middle to wave goodbye.

The WBC number two contender has now made five defenses of her European crown and hopes to hit a world title knockout this year.

“He will definitely fight for a world title. I will make it happen,” said his promoter, Frank Warren.
