Xbox’s grounded survival adventure gets a new update on Switch

Base recently made its debut on the Nintendo Switch, and while the team at Obsidian has technically rolled out the last major update, it’s not done yet.

The developer has now released a new patch, upgrading the game to Version 1.4.1. This latest patch comes with some major fixes, changes, optimizations, and most notably, some Switch-specific updates. Here’s the full list, courtesy of the official game website:

ERROR CORRECTIONS/ CHANGES

NINTENDO TOOLS

  • The water mist when looking out of the Pond Lab dome is no longer visible.
  • Improved performance in various labs showing the camera feed for the door you unlock.
  • Reduce the amount of art appearing in the interior.
  • Playground loads properly on Switch.
  • Server and client microphones are detected correctly if they do not connect a microphone to the Switch when entering a game and then connect it.

BIG FIX:

  • Players no longer respawn with a dark screen for 3 seconds after dying to a boss and respawning in single player.
  • Creatures participating in base attacks or Waft Emitter attacks are no longer frozen to the client upon arrival.
  • Boss scream attacks and Wasp Drone screams in New Game+ no longer trigger AOE attacks that infuse anything their scream hits.
  • Milk Molar upgrades for customers will continue with New Game+ enabled.
  • Bases no longer load when some structures incorrectly note that they are supporting an entire base.
  • Fixed an issue where the Microsoft Account login screen incorrectly displayed the wrong environment error (fixed in a previous hot fix build).

CHANGE:

  • Increased the damage reduction for the random jewelry status effect “+Damage Resistance” from 10% to 50%.
  • You can enable text chat via the gamepad on the console.

OPTIMIZATION:

  • Improves overall in-game performance.
  • Improved performance when playing in Multiplayer mode.
  • Reduced memory usage throughout the game.
  • Playgrounds with multiple links will run with better performance when in Play mode.
  • Improved interior display performance at lower settings.

ISSUES FIXED:

  • Fixed an issue that could sometimes occur after looting a dead pet and activating autosave.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when completing a conversation.
  • Fixed an issue that could occur when a customer rejoins a game where their last saved data was when they were eliminated.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when a client loads into a yard with a base built.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur randomly during playback.

HOW TO FIX OTHER ERRORS:

  • Voice Chat settings will be properly reapplied after closing and reopening the game.
  • Loading the game while in Pond Lab no longer shows the underwater effect on the screen.
  • Some oak root fragments in the lab no longer bounce short distances on Low settings.
  • Reasonable transition lighting if a defense event is in progress.
  • The pond lab cutscene works properly for remote clients when the cutscene is triggered.
  • Copy infused weapons properly copy by random effect.
  • Improves water quality at low settings.
  • Customers no longer receive Raw Science notifications immediately upon joining.
  • Siren lights near Black Anthill boss fights animate properly when in view.
