Danny Garcia is still mulling over the next step in his career.

After successfully competing at 140 pounds, leading to a unified championship, Garcia spent seven years of his career as an official welterweight division. Although Garcia went on to win the world championship to Robert Guerrero in 2016 before losing the title to Keith Thurman a year later, Garcia is still proud of what can be achieved.

Among a long list of names Garcia has successfully beaten throughout his career, his 2012 win over Amir Khan was one of his more notable. Heading into their 140-pound unification bout, Khan, a former Olympic silver medalist, is considered a heavyweight favorite.

Despite the odds, Garcia blew his man away, leading to three knockdowns total before registering a knockout victory in the fourth round.

Currently, Khan is about to close the competition with fellow British Kell Brook. The two will officially face each other at Manchester Arena on February 19, 2022.

After Khan’s crushing defeat at the hands of Garcia nearly a decade ago, he urged the multi-level star to face him again. Although Garcia has never shown much interest in appeasing his wishes, if Khan can successfully run the business against Brook, Garcia reveals that he would be willing to give him a another shot.

Garcia told several reporters: “Khan hates me. “He feels he is better than me. Let’s do it. Let’s take the win and let’s do it again”.

Although both Khan and Brook have been campaigning at 147 pounds for years, both sides have agreed to a 149-pound weight limit for their upcoming competition. With both men in their thirties, neither is considered close to their respective primes. On Khan’s most recent tour of the ring, he bounced back from a sixth round loss to Terence Crawford, by stopping Billy Dib in the fourth round in 2019.

Brook, quite interestingly, also made a brief appearance against Crawford in November 2020. When Garcia revealed that he would be ready to take on Khan if he wins on February 19, the Philadelphia native is also extending his hand to Brook.

“Let me fight the winner.”
