AOI announces housing for Olympus E-M1 Mark III

AOI has release details its new housing for Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III. The third version of the mid-range Micro Four Thirds camera boasts a 20MP sensor, 18fps continuous shooting (with AF) and DCI 4K/24p video recording.

The polycarbonate housing has a “new and improved” built-in optical trigger, allowing underwater photographers to make full use of the camera’s Super FP mode. With this high-speed flash sync option, shutter speeds faster than the maximum sync speed of 1/200 second can be used — useful when capturing fast action or when using wide apertures. AOI’s vacuum analysis & wet detection system is pre-installed, providing the user with audible and visual alerts if the housing seal is compromised.

Shipping in May 2022, housing available for $999 from retailers like Backscatter. (Note that with minor modifications, the case is also compatible with the E-M1 Mark II; consult your dealer for more information.)

AOI’s newest housing – ready for action

Essentially, the underwater case allows the user to scuba dive with the camera’s scuba tank. Protecting it from water and pressure while underwater, is essentially the same premise from 160 years ago when the first underwater photographs appeared.

The new UH-EM1iii underwater case for the Olympus OM-D E-M1MKiii takes it to the next level. Integrated with a new and improved optical trigger, it is compatible with the E-M1 MKiii’s RC Flash mode. Allows users to take advantage of one of the camera’s key features while underwater – Super FP mode.

Due to the limitations of sync speed and underwater flicker in general, most photographers stick with a shutter speed of 1/200. But with the new and improved optical trigger, photographers can now use Super FP, TTL, or Manual Mode.

What is Super FP?

Super FP is a special flash mode that allows the use of shutter speeds faster than the x-sync capabilities of the camera flash system.

When do we use Super FP flash mode?

When you need a wide aperture for a shallow depth of field, such as when shooting macros and want a bokeh effect.

Or

When we photograph fast-moving animals, a fast shutter speed prevents motion blur caused by a moving subject.

By being able to use these modes, photographers no longer have to work around these limitations.

The design of the new case reflects the wants and needs of mirrorless camera users. By keeping the case compact and handy, it makes it easy to hold and move. Although small, the buttons and knobs are well laid out and intuitive for the user.

To ensure that everything works as it should, the case comes pre-installed with the Vacuum Analyzer & Wet Detection System. Using a vacuum pump to reach the desired internal pressure, the system continuously analyzes the internal pressure. Once a change is detected, an audible and visual alert is set up to give the user plenty of time to correct the situation.

The home is available for pre-order and shipping is expected to begin in May 2022. The home is expected to sell for $999 (prices will vary depending on local taxes and local taxes). terms of business).
