There’s no future, no past, but there’s a whole new baby in Anthony Rappe and Ken Ithipholfamily of.
Congratulations is to give Rent alum and her longtime partner as they welcomed their first child.
“Ken and I are excited to share that our family has grown,” shared Anthony on Twitter on December 5. “Our son, Rai Larson Ithiphol, was brought into the world on Friday, December 2, 2022, by an incredibly generous surrogate, for whom we are forever grateful. (Rai is pronounced like ‘rye’ or ‘chai’.) We love him so much.”
Anthony met Ken, a yoga instructor, in 2016 after Ken hit the actor’s direct messages after watching him perform in Los Angeles. Anthony proposed in 2019 and Ken reciprocated the gesture in 2020 while hiking in Sedona, Ariz.
Now, as new parents, the couple seems to keep Rent legacy is alive. Their child’s middle name seems to be an obvious nod to the musical’s creator and screenwriter, Jonathan Larsonwho tragically died on RentBroadway’s first off-stage preview in 1996, according to Hollywood Reporter. Anthony was part of the original cast of the rock musical, debuting as Mark Cohen.
