‘Hades II’, the sequel to the hottest game of 2020, just launched early

Supergiant Games is soon handing over the keys to the underworld. Hades IIstudio’s sequel highly appreciated roguelike, is available to purchase now for $30 on PC through early access to Steam and Epic Games Store.

Hades II follows Melinoë, princess and sister of the underworld to the first game’s hero, Zagreus, on his quest to destroy the titan Chronos. The game features a rotating cast of Greek gods, from Aphrodite to Zeus, who assist Melinoë on her journey with special powers and abilities. Although the version of the game launched Monday is not the full, complete version, Supergiant will allow players who purchase it to continue their progress to the final game. The company expects development to continue “at least until the end of 2024” with updates every few months.

Besides its excellent gameplay, the original Hell also loved for its hot gods and open sexuality; Players can attract both female and male characters together to get a threesome with the right attitude. The sequel is maintaining at least some of that tradition with more Greek gods whose beauty is on full display.

Hades IIThe early release wasn’t a complete surprise. Its predecessor was released before it was fully formed in late 2018; the finished version launched in 2020. “We designed the original Hell for Early Access from the start, and the same is true for Hades II, our first sequel,” Supergiant wrote in its announcement. “We believe everything about this game benefits from constant feedback, from balance to storytelling.”

Supergiant says the game now has more levels, enemies and voiced characters than the finished version of the original game. The main areas, characters, story and more are still being built.

The Early Access release follows Supergiant’s technical testing last month, where team members play games live online. Interested players have been allowed to sign up for testing. Hades II has been in development for three years. While there’s no exact information on when the final product will be ready, players who want the opportunity to help shape its development can do so through feedback. “We hope to make many changes and improvements inspired by our player community and reflect these in our patch notes,” Supergiant wrote in a statement.

“The combination of our impressions as a development team, the feedback we receive from the player community, and the gameplay data we collect from all players will help us I form a more complete picture of how we can create Hades II the best possible.”
