Provo, about 50 miles south of downtown Salt Lake City, had never before been served by a major carrier. In 2022, new startup airline Breeze Airways, headquartered in the southern suburbs of Salt Lake City, launches service for Provo with service to three destinations: Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Francisco. The airline has since cut service to Las Vegas but added flights to Dallas-Fort Worth and Orange County, California.
For its part, American will take on these two incumbents on its new routes. Breeze has announced flights between Dallas-Fort Worth and Provo, and both Allegiant and Breeze fly to Phoenix.
The additional competition will help lower ticket prices on these nonstop flights and will give Provo-based locals new connection options across the country and world.
