Before Ducati took over The Monster takes an unfortunate turn by removing its signature trellis frame and wrapping it in plastic, Ducati Monster 821 is the best new Monster you can get. Stacked up alongside the smaller, air-cooled Monster 797 and the thoroughly enjoyable liquid-cooled Monster 1200, it’s more refined than the former and more manageable than the latter. The 821 is a perfectly sized, 112 horsepower car that exudes Italian style and brutal luxury.
This custom Ducati Monster 821 recaptures some of that luxury and amps up the 821’s inherent brutality. It’s the work of Jérémie Duchampt at Jerem Motorcycles in France, and it’s so bold that we don’t Can’t love it.
The biggest visual highlight is the Monster 821’s completely redesigned rear end. Jérémie kept the OEM fuel tank but stripped everything behind it. Then, he fabricated a compact trellis-style subframe, welded directly to the new seat base.
The custom saddle that sits above it provides the same amount of space as the original rider’s saddle, with no room for the passenger. The upholstery is gorgeous; Made by Yaya Brush Sellerie, it uses two different fabrics with contrasting stitching, giving it a modern muscle car feel.
A pair of aftermarket exhaust pipes protrude from under the seat, paying homage to the underseat exhaust systems on older Monsters. The cans are connected to the connectors using manual fittings. And if you look closer at the subframe, you’ll notice a pair of Kellermann combination taillights and LED turn signals, mounted on the integrated body.
deep Ducatisti You’ll notice that the 821 no longer wears the side swingarms. Instead, Jérémie adapted the Monster 1200S’s burly single-sided unit to suit. Öhlins shock absorbers at the rear.
Jérémie also matched the Monster’s larger wheels, which meant some parts had to be machined to fit them. The 821 still uses the stock forks and Brembo brakes but they have been rebuilt and anodized. New discs and pads ensure that the Monster stops as well as it looks, while Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tires optimize the car for on-road use.
Next, Jérémie threw a truckload of Ducati-specific hop-up parts at the 821. The list included a hydraulic clutch conversion kit from Ducabike, a CNC Racing clutch slave cylinder, a GB water pump Racing and upgraded plumbing.
The cockpit features new clamps, with the Jerem-branded nameplate mounted on the original brackets. Jérémie kept the OEM switches and control panel, but replaced the handles and added CNC-machined rearview mirrors. The brake and clutch controls are from Accossato, and the rear accelerator controls are from CNC Racing.
The front end is completed with LED headlights and Kellermann turn signals, mounted on custom headlight brackets. A handcrafted aluminum mudguard sits further down, while a custom mudguard adds a sporty touch to the Ducati.
The Monster 821’s bold new aesthetic is reinforced by an even bolder paint color. Sweet mountain green dominates the entire bike, adorning the forks, fuel tank and subframe. Yellow serves as an accent color, covering select hardware and the 821’s trellis frame, while visually connecting the upper frame tube to the yellow rear shock.
The powertrain is almost completely shut down. That’s partly thanks to the endless list of carbon fiber panels, but also partly thanks to the wrinkled black paint on the ignition cover.
Boldly nicknamed ‘The Icon’, Jérémie’s re-imagining of Monster 821 is brash and unapologetic but also tastefully executed. We certainly wouldn’t turn down a trip.
