The new Aceman mini electric scooter looks cute, but is that enough?
small just unveiled its first dedicated product electric car model, the adorable and small Aceman electric subcompact crossover. It’s only about 2 inches longer, 1 inch wider and 3 inches taller. Current four-door F55 Cooper Hardtop, and the slots between The Cooper was recently redesigned And compatriot Models. With an unimpressive WLTP range estimate, its small size and premium small car status will likely dictate higher costs, Aceman is a cute car for a limited number of buyers.
It will be offered in front-wheel drive only, with the base Aceman E getting a 42.5 kWh battery and the upgraded Aceman SE spec getting a 54.2 kWh battery. In spite of EPA range estimates Not yet published, European WLTP ratings claim a range of 310 km for the base car (~192 miles) and a range of 406 km (~252 miles) for the facelifted Aceman SE. Expect the EPA’s estimated range to be slightly lower than the WLTP estimate, so long range isn’t the Aceman’s trump card. Charging speeds will vary, but Mini claims the Aceman E allows for 75 kW DC charging speeds and the Aceman SE offers up to 95 kW charging speeds allowing it to be fast-charged from 10 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes. minutes, again, somewhat insignificant
small is rightly aiming the Aceman at urban environments, where its FWD-only layout and low range estimate won’t be a significant limiting factor in finding an owner. Mini has not been announced yet valuation, but if Aceman comes to America its price will play a big role in its success. According to WLTP estimates, the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro EV already offer affordable small electric crossovers with more than 60 miles of range than the Aceman. However, Mini considers the Aceman a premium small car, so its buyers will have to appreciate style and panache for maximum range and maximum affordability.
Base Aceman E models make 184 horsepower and about 213 lb-ft of torque, while SE models make 218 horsepower and about 243 lb-ft of torque. small base Acemans claim a 0-60 time of 7.9 seconds, and the Aceman SE drops that to 7.1 seconds, so it’s not a perfect performance car, but Mini claims the Aceman will keep its cool. sporty agility and dynamic driving feel typical of the brand.
The new Aceman has a very similar interior to the recently redesigned Cooper and Countryman, with a large circular central screen, All vegan interior materials, dashboard straps and fabric dashboard design. It also gets new safety and luxury features found in new Minis, like optional steering and lane assist, augmented reality navigation, etc.
Mini’s new Aceman is cute and trendy, But as headlines continue to note waning interest in overpriced electric cars, its future remains uncertain. As a Mini fanboy, I was hoping for more exciting specs, but if Mini can keep the Aceman’s price reasonable then it still has a chance of attracting an audience.
