Advanced lightroom techniques to add drama to the sky

In recent versions of the program, Lightroom’s masking features have made great strides, and you can now perform more precise and advanced operations with relative ease, allowing New and more powerful tweaks. This helpful video tutorial will show you one such technique that takes advantage of Lightroom’s masking features to add a little drama to the sky.

Coming to you from Anthony Morganti, this great video tutorial will show you how to add some drama to the sky of a landscape photo using Lightroom’s masking palette. In this case, you would use the Intersect function to activate a mask that precisely affects the clouds but not the buildings. The best way to think of Intersect as an “and” connection or overlap between two masks: if one mask allows editing in one area and the other allows it in another, the intersection of the mask will only allow editing when both masks overlap. As the video shows, this makes it easy to draw edits to clouds without having to carefully shield around buildings. Check out the video above for a full rundown from Morganti.
