Just two weeks before its doors were opened, CP+ 2022 Camera Monitor in Yokohama, Japan was cancelled. And there are no prizes for guessing why. With cases of the Omicron flavor of COVID-19 rapidly increasing in Japan – the seven-day average is now above 90,000 – program management has been forced to pull the plug.
In its official statement, the organizers not only pointed to the cases of explosion, but also the lack of rapid antigen test kits “hindering the safe management of the event”. This unexpected announcement is another blow to this industry, which has seen Photokina in Cologne, Germany, suspended indefinitely in November 2020.
