I think it’s fair to say that streaming is complicated, especially if you want to go beyond “Instagram streaming from the selfie camera”. Adding multiple angles, multiple cameras, and overlays is complicated, and you’ll need quite a bit of equipment for that. Well, say goodbye to that. RecNGo is a simple app that makes streaming affordable and accessible.
A personal anecdote, if you will. When COVID hit, I was asked to create a solution to stream different events. I’m such a person, traditionally, I used to buy a lot of cars and bill quite a bit for the rent. Although I don’t remember the exact details of the invoice, I know I need:
- Two cameras
- Two lenses
- Two tripods
- Two HDMI cables
- 4-6 batteries
- Streaming deck from Blackmagic
- Three people: one person for each camera and one person in charge of the stream
If the distance is too long, I also need a way to wirelessly transmit the video to the “brains” of the stream.
For a basic setup like this, the rental alone comes in at around $300, if not more. Add the organization fee and you’re looking at a $1,000 per stream minimum. If I wanted more cameras, or more, it would turn out to be ridiculous sums that most customers would not be happy to pay.
A setup that requires this much equipment will likely be a high-end product. But it’s not going to be for someone to stream their wedding or other small (or personal) events while paying a lot for it. There’s no way I’d pay that much to stream a light webinar for free.

Cameras on mobile phones these days are amazing and the important thing is to get the picture, what kind of phone is great. For most streaming situations, what’s important is a good video feed, not a full-frame 12-bit 4K signal. Just to demonstrate how good the phone is, I have the pictures taken on the phone in my portfolio to send to commercial clients. No one has noticed. The advantages of using a mobile device far outweigh the disadvantages.
RecNGo has a lot on its plate. With an easy-to-use app, they can connect up to 12 camera sources that it can control. The application allows to convert, as well as add pre-recorded cells. As for output, RecNGo will stream natively to YouTube and Facebook. If you need to stream to another platform, they have custom RTMP output.
Overall, it’s interesting to see a company that will fight the big boys. It’s great to see RecNGo partnering with mobile accessory manufacturers to make their products even more versatile. In fact, I wanted to stream my free webinar on lighting (with announcement soon) and saved up cash for a group. Now, I will simply use RecNGo for it, since all i need is multichannel streaming and for my intentions and purposes it can be done with the phone.
