Second Life Podcast: Garcelle Beauvais


Garcelle Beauvais is an absolute power. After immigrating to the United States from Haiti at the age of seven, she soon sought a career as a fashion model in New York. Her modeling career eventually led to the first major turning point of her career into acting, where she had roles in notable TV shows and movies such as Go to USA, The Jaime Foxx show, NYPD Blue, and Curb your enthusiasm. Beauvais has certainly paved the way for Hollywood for three decades, making a name for itself in the industry.

Today, Beauvais is still in front of the camera, but at a different angle. She’s on the hit show Bravo The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, serving as the first Black co-star of this iteration of the franchise. Beauvais’s presence on the show revealed her strong, determined attitude and extremely wise soul. However, she did not stop there. Beauvais is also on the award-winning daytime talk show Truth in the seventh season, and she will co-host until its eighth and final season ends this month.

Aside from her time in the spotlight in Hollywood, Beauvais has another award for her impressive repertoire: She has developed her career as an author. Her first foray into writing was with her I am The 2013 series of children’s books that address issues of identity resonate with many children today and are testament to her motherhood. On April 12, she released her highly anticipated memoir, Love me like me, details her life from Haiti to Hollywood and all the emotions in between.
