Ruiz, a Mexican who lives in California and is currently training with Alfredo Osuna first back on September 4 when he met Luis Ortiz at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, having worked alongside the sport’s superstar under head coach Eddy Reynoso.
The 32-year-old leaves the team, looking for a fresh start as he looks forward to once again being a mainstay in the sport’s top tier
Even so, ‘Terminator’ believes ‘Canelo’ has what it takes to beat the aging Kazakh boxer when they fight on September 17 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
While talking to FightHypeRuiz says:
“I think Canelo beat GGG twice and I think he will beat him a third time. I don’t see anyone beating Canelo in his weight class.”
Alvarez plunged into a fight with Golovkin after the second defeat in his career. The 32-year-old, who has won multiple world championships in four weight classes, has wrong end of a decision against Dmitry Bivol of Russia when he challenged for the WBA title at light-heavyweight back in May.
A draw and a decisive majority victory in his favor were two outcomes of ‘Canelo’ previous two clashes with Golovkin, who stopped Ryota Murata for nine rounds at the Super Arena in Saitama, Japan in April to add the WBA Super world middleweight title to his IBO and IBF titles.
Ruiz continued about his former training partner:
“He’s undefeated at 168 pounds.”
“I know people say Golovkin is very good, that he will be the best, but he is always focused, strong and trains hard.
“He came from a loss, but a lot of people don’t understand why he lost.
“He faced someone bigger, he took a risk. To me he didn’t lose, he was just looking for something and he didn’t get it”.
