Piaggio MP3 500 recalled due to reduced brake performance
Your favorite tricycle scooter will be recalled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, as Piaggio Americas Corporation is recalling a number of Piaggio MP3 500 HPE scooters from the 2020s and 2021.
According to the recall documents, the galvanized fittings of the brake hose connector can contaminate the brake fluid on the MP3 500 HPE, thereby reducing brake performance. A total of 27 vehicles are affected by this recall.
In addition, poor braking is a consequence of applying the brake/brake pedal too much and it occurs after a long period of stopping.
Piaggio says it has received warranty claims from dealers that the front brake lever and in some cases the rear brake have extended service life after a long period of inactivity.
To fix this problem, Piaggio dealers will clean the brake system completely free of charge. The owner’s notice letter is expected to be mailed on April 18, 2022.
