The vase really hasn’t been renewed much over the years. It is an empty vase used to hold flowers or green plants. But part of its beauty is found in its handy functionality. This means that it is not always filled with budding roses. Keep it simple and display vases on shelves with fresh greens cut from your yard. I love picking up leaves from fallen branches to add an emerald hue to a colorful vase.

#2: Put on the floor
The only reason to keep the vase on the table is for the safety of small children and pets. If this isn’t a concern in your home, prop up a ship in a secluded corner. This brings an unexpected design moment to the negative space and allows for the perfect way to showcase taller branches and trunks.

I remember the first time I saw a tree trunk being used as a coffee table base. Brilliant, I was thinking. It amazes me when I see an object’s lifespan stretched to new limits — that’s why I love seeing an empty vase used as a work of art. Where are the flowers? In this case, there is nowhere to distract from the object itself. Let the show-stealing vase be placed on a stand or flower vases.

And yes: A clear glass vase filled with vibrant flowers still steals the show. Place these in an area that receives a lot of traffic — i.e. the center of the kitchen or above living room coffee table. That way, you can appreciate fresh flowers at their peak.
