McCain has a brilliant comeback at Racecourse Ayr This season has had three winners from his four runners sent to the Scottish track, a 75% strike rate. He sends four runners-up there on Monday, two in the final, but if his three best chances are won, they will combine to form a 35-1 treble.

The first runner of the day for McCain was Brian Hughes riding on Ramble West in this beginner barrier. McCain has two of these including top horse Cenotice but Heartbreak Kid could be a companion. The double hurdles scorer has been running well after a lengthy absence at Sedgefield this month, catching up only after the last game it looked like he wasn’t 100% fit for the day. That will has brought him a lot of terrible things and he has to calculate here.
