The Land Rover Defender 130 will be the most practical model of the off-road vehicle with a maximum of 8 seats in 3 rows of seats.
Overnight, the automaker revealed the 130 will make its global debut on May 31, presumably in the UK summer.
The order book for the new car will be open on the day it is revealed.
The company says the new model is “designed for shared all-terrain exploration and adventure”, although there’s a chance the 130 will be slightly underpowered than its 90 and 110 cousins.
That’s because, according to a Patent design leakThe Defender 130’s wider interior space has a longer rear overhang, with the 110’s 3022mm wheelbase shared with the 130.
Overall, the Defender 130 is said to be 5100mm long excluding the rear wheels, up 342mm from the 110’s 4758mm.
While the current Defender 110 has a third row of seats available, it’s not really roomy in the back.
If previous leaks and today’s teaser photo are anything to go by, the 130 will be identical to the 110 from the C-pillar and earlier. Indeed, the design of the tailgate and taillights is said to be exactly the same.
Given the similarity of parts in the order of the day, the Defender 130 will be available with most, if not all, powertrains available in the 90 and 110.
The Australian Defender line-up is available with a 48V mild-hybrid 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-diesel engine with 183kW/570Nm at the D250 or as the D300 220kW/650Nm.

Gasoline fans can choose between the P300 with 221kW/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo, the P400 with 294kW/550Nm 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder mild hybrid, or the 5.0-litre turbocharged P525 and 368kW/625Nm liter. V8 engine.
All models sold domestically have an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive with low and high ranges.
Given global supply chain issues, we wouldn’t be surprised if Land Rover decided to focus production early on more expensive models with more powerful engines.
