2023 Honda e:Ny1 EV revealed – production electric HR-V with 68.8 kWh battery, 412 km WLTP range
This is the Honda e:Ny1, the Japanese automaker’s all-new electric (EV) model launched for the European market. See it before? Well, besides the fact that e:Ny1 is basically a HR-V electricalit was previewed by e: Prototype Ny1 from March 2022, similar to China market twins e:NS1 and e:NP1.
It looks like the HR-V, but Honda says the e:Ny1 sits on the newly developed e:N Architecture F platform, a front-engine front-drive platform with three basic attributes – a specialized body structure. High rigidity, low center of gravity. Gravity and underfloor aerodynamics are carefully managed to ensure “fun and confident driving”. Also mentioned is “brand Honda dynamics”, so you can get an idea of what they’re trying to accomplish here.
The lightweight three-in-one integrated electric actuator, electric motor and gearbox produce 201 hp (150 kW) and 310 Nm of torque, powered by a 68.8-inch lithium-ion battery pack kWh. Claimed range is 412 km in the WLTP cycle – significantly higher than Honda car – and Honda says that DC fast charging can get you between 10 and 80% SOC in 45 minutes.
Honda says the new chassis developed specifically for electric vehicles improves torsional stiffness and the key to this is high-strength steel, which is used on 47% of the e:Ny1 body (by weight, no. right area). “Together with a new platform and powertrain, these combine to deliver the dynamic performance, exceptional comfort and refinement that riders expect from Honda’s latest electric vehicle, the company added.
Typical EV signals like nose closed and charging cap aside, do you notice anything different? It’s not very obvious in these studio photos, but the white ‘H’ badging on the outside and on the steering wheel is a new Honda electrical identity, like red for the Type R and blue for the Type R. hybrid car. Additionally, there’s a new ‘Honda’ typeface logo for the rear.
Honda is a master of packaging and this skill should also be evident on electric vehicles. The company says the intelligent packaging of the electric powertrain components ensures the e:Ny1 offers “remarkable interior space and comfort”.
The The familiar dashboard of HR-V features a large 15.1-inch vertical touchscreen that includes what looks like a permanent part for AC control. In front of the driver, the dashboard is a digital display without a wristwatch.
No price or market launch time has been given, but car refers to “in the coming months” and the RRP is £30,000 (RM168,202), on par with Hyundai Kona Electric And Peugeot e-2008, among other European-style electric B-SUVs. What do you think of this “HR-V EV”?
