2023 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro – details of 3-row SUV, 2.0T 250 hp/390 Nm, launched in June/July

Chery Tiggo 8 Pro

We detailed the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro when it local launch at the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 last month, and if you think the big SUV look good there, you’ll want to stop and stare at this collection. Cars often look better outdoors, and so does Chery’s three-row seven-seat SUV. Handsome isn’t it?

The Tiggo 8 Pro you see here is a complete import in the form of a right-hand drive, according to the final locally assembled CKD version that customers will receive. By the way, we are about to have the latest improved version of the SUV, called Tiggo 8 Pro Max in China, although the ‘Max’ suffix has been dropped in Malaysia to simplify things – that is the only Tiggo 8 we’re coming out with anyway.

This is essentially the same car as the we showed you from Wuhu, home of Chery, in April, but in RHD. Under the hood is a 4-cylinder, turbocharged, 2.0-liter engine that produces 250 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque. Power from the GDI engine is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and there are three driving modes – Eco, Normal and Sport.

By the way, today’s Tiggo 8 Pro is different from which was previewed in Malaysia last year. The SUV has an updated look with a new “galactic” grille and a full-width LED light bar and a fancy T-shaped third brake light. The wheels are now 19-inch, one-inch up, wrapped in 235/50R19 tyres. We have some night shot so you see the LED signatures and illuminated logos.

The outside is more beautiful now, but inside the Tiggo 8 Pro Max shines. The large SUV has a horizontal and modern dashboard design with must-have features like synchro screens (24.6 inches in total, says Chery), inline AC vents, and a tall center console. . It’s all much neater now, and there are places where you’ll find bold Mercedes details – think switches, perforated wood trim and Burmester-style speaker grilles.

The steering wheel is also new with the words Chery instead of the logo. Speaking of logos, there’s the Tiggo logo on the side of the center display and the rear AC vent area. Kit-wise, the number of airbags now maxes out at nine, and there’s a total of eight Sony speakers.

As for the rest of the kit, the list includes an electronic parking brake with auto hold, automatic LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, a welcome light and multiple ambient lights. color, ventilated/heated power front seats, memory driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, power-closed tailgate, electronic panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. The graphics are crisp, as you’ll see in the gallery below.

The very long list of tools that are supported by the full ADAS suite includes functions such as warning/lane keeping, blind spot detection, door opening warning, rear cross traffic alert, traffic control, etc. adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and automatic braking (AEB). By the way, the camera system is not advertised as 360 degrees but 540. Before you scratch your head, the additional degrees are contributed by the underfloor camera.

So the Tiggo 8 Pro looks epic (it was Chery’s flagship SUV until its recent launch). Tiggo 9) and has a long list of tuples. The remaining big questions are when and how much?
