2023 Cadillac Lyriq starts at $62,990, with estimated range of 312 miles

GM has revealed the starting price and released some preliminary range numbers for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq luxury electric crossover.

The first all-electric Cadillac costs $62,990, including a $1,195 destination fee, in single-engine rear-wheel drive or $64,990 in dual-engine all-wheel drive. And in RWD form, it should deliver an estimated (albeit unofficial) EPA of 312 miles.

Those eager and waiting when the Lyriq pre-order program opened last year will pay a little less—$59,990, for a special Debut Edition sold out in about 10 minutes. According to dealer websites at the time, it was only offered to 1,500 customers.

There will be a certain performance boost for the AWD version. While the RWD Lyriq delivers 340 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, the AWD Lyriq will deliver at least 500 hp.

Lyriq production began in March, at the former Spring Hill, Tennessee, plant, created Saturn products. RWD Lyriq will be delivered first; but according to Cadillac, the first deliveries of the AWD model won’t begin until early 2023. Both versions will be open for pre-order on May 19.

Cadillac Lyriq 2023 offers a 12-module, 100-kwh battery pack, with the same oversized pocket cells used in the Ultium vehicles like the GMC Hummer EV — albeit in a single-layer package. GM’s heat pump based energy recovery systemthis should help keep real-world range and charge counts more consistent than with some other EVs.

Furthermore, Cadillac says it will be able to charge at up to 190kw and add a range of 76 miles in 10 minutes. However, charge level 2 is particularly impressive. With speeds up to 19.2 kw — included with an 80 amp charger, on top of the necessary 100 amp circuitry, if you’re lucky with your home setup — the Lyriq can shoot for a range of 52 miles per hour.

The Lyriq also promises to be exceptionally quiet inside, as it features a next-generation active noise cancellation system. Meanwhile, the so-called Sound Enhancement system for Electric Vehicles adds push sound — or, we hope, can be turned off.

In terms of looks, the Lyriq is also entering new territory for Cadillac, with a large 33-inch LED display that combines driver information, navigation and infotainment. A 19-speaker surround sound system is available including a headrest speaker.

We were in get close to Lyriq and found the light to be particularly remarkable, giving this model an intuitive flash from almost any angle, inside and out. With its spacious rear seats, we see it becoming a powerful alternative to the Audi E-Tron, Jaguar I-Pace and possibly the BMW iX — early signs that we hope will soon. achieve realistic impressions.
