Hyundai’s first N electric car is about to go into production.
The prototype of heat Hyundai Ioniq 5 WOMEN may still be wearing camouflage, but now they’re wearing production bodywork.
Hyundai confirmed last month A hotter version of the electric hatchback/SUV will launch in 2023.
These latest spy shots show the Ioniq 5 N with a deeper and more aggressive front spoiler, while at the rear there is a large roof spoiler and what appears to be a rear diffuser.
The Ioniq 5 N also seems to have a wider track and wider fenders, as well as unique wheels and a lower ride height.
While our photographers weren’t able to shoot the interior, we also expect aesthetic changes there, like sport seats and unique trim.
What will power the Ioniq 5 N is yet to be confirmed, but it could use the high-performance powertrain used in Kia EV6 GT.
The dual-motor four-wheel drive system produces 430kW of power and 740Nm of torque. Kia claims the EV6 GT can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.5 seconds.
Currently, the most powerful Ioniq 5 pumps out 225kW and 605Nm.
It’s unclear if the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will deliver faster speeds than the EV6 GT, although more of a focus on race-track performance may be possible.
Kia recently detailing the changes it was made for the EV6 to make the hot GT, also made and received by the Kia Australia team final stage local adjustment.
It remains to be seen whether local Hyundai engineers will tune the Ioniq 5 N. The regular Ioniq 5 doesn’t get any local handling and ride tuning.
Unveiled here in Q4 2022, the EV6 GT – which can cost around $100,000 – features a revised suspension, upgraded cooling and a unique gear ratio steering system.
It also has an electronic limited-slip differential and an electronically controlled suspension with semi-active high-performance dampers found only on the GT.

Hyundai executives have previously said N cars can use any number of powertrains, as long as they follow three principles: they should be an “everyday sports car”, an “everyday sports car” with tracking capabilities.
Ioniq 5 N will join Hyundai’s gasoline-powered N series of vehicles, which currently include i20 WOMEN, i30 FEMALEi30 Sedan N and Kona WOMEN.
It could be followed by an N version of the recently revealed Ioniq 6, which was previewed last month like the RN22e concept.
