BMW car officially announced the price today for the flagship Red Label variant of the new product XM Performance SUV, but it also quietly previews a new base model.
The BMW XM 50e was revealed in a video on the official BMW M YouTube channel, but the company has revealed very little precious information about it.
It will offer a 76-84km electric range on the tighter WLTP cycle, slightly less than the standard XM’s 82-88km claim, with a WLTP combined cycle fuel consumption of 1 ,4-1.5L/100km.
It will also be offered in over 50 BMW Individual paint finishes. Other than this information, we don’t know anything more about the XM 50e.
We have reached out to BMW Australia to confirm whether it joins the standard XM and the new Label Red and Label Red Edition in the local lineup.
The 50e’s preview clip shows more details about the model than the car itself, but we can see it finished in the same color as Sao Paulo Yellow with black wheels and black side stripes.
We can also see yellow accents inside the cabin.
Overseas reports suggest it could ditch the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain found in other XMs in favor of a straight six-cylinder plug-in hybrid system. row.
The BMW M760e A 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged, in-line six-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain seems like a viable option. Replace V12 powertrain of the previous 7 Series, it produces up to 420kW of power and 800Nm of torque.
For context, the standard XM has a total system output of 480kW and 800Nm. It costs $297,900 before on-road costs.
The XM goes on sale in Australia in the first half of this year, with the Red Label and Red Label Edition limited production in the fourth quarter.
The Red Label models feature a more powerful twin-turbo V8 PHEV powertrain, increasing power to 550kW and 1000Nm.
