2022 AT&T Byron Nelson Leaderboard: Ryan Palmer Leads Major Dallas Team After Round 2 at TPC Craig Ranch
TPC overnight lead Craig Ranch has been arrested, as Sebastian Munoz has only been able to do so much after his record-setting opening round at AT&T Byron Nelson 2022. Behind 12th under 60 with a scoreline 3 under a respectable 69, the Colombian joined Ryan Palmer and David Skinns at the top of the rankings at the bottom 15.
Palmer combined a round of the day and continued his dominance on par 5 en route to 10 under 62. Playing eight holes in 9 under 9 so far, the 45-year-old has once again played his best of the day. I transitioned in his home state of Texas. Last competed at the Texas Open in early April, Palmer finally dropped in form last weekend at TPC San Antonio.
“It’s hard to win here. I mean these guys are so good. I spent 19 years doing this… and these young men – you have to play such great golf to hit it. defeat them,” Palmer said. “I played great in San Antonio, leading after two days and we’re back here again now, I’m sure I’ll be back tomorrow or two, but we’re in a position to be back. back and we’re going to learn from what we learned in San Antonio and try to do it here.”

T1. Ryan Palmer, David Skinns, Sebastian Munoz (-15): Lost in the melee of two Texans is the ultimate traveller, David Skinns. The 40-year-old’s story is well-documented, but it’s worth revisiting how incredible his rise to the PGA Tour was.
To say that the England player’s rookie campaign hasn’t been kind to him would be an understatement. In 15 PGA Tour starts this season, Skinns has only pulled in six times his salary with his best being last November at the RSM Classic. Currently ranked 208 on the FedEx Cup rankings, a great weekend will help Skinns maintain his position on the PGA Tour.

There are some great stories at the top of the leaderboard, but the reality is that the real leader is under 12. Spieth, Niemann and the defending champion all sit at this number and each will have a say in this tournament that will take place on Sunday with the number 9 back.
Niemann is of special interest – no for his short game, but instead, he has been unsuccessful with his iron so far. To effectively get past TPC Craig Ranch without the aid of his scoring clubs makes Niemann’s performance so far all the more impressive. If those clubs come to him, the 23-year-old will love the chance to win a second trophy of the season.
Spieth will Spieth
Before you have time to finish your first cup of coffee, Jordan Spieth gets tangled up in a pickle. With his ball leaning against a tree off the 10th fairway (his first hole of the day), the Dallas-born player gave the Texas crowd something to cheer for. He won’t stop there, as Spieth hit 8 birdies with just one bogey on his way to the second round at 7 under 65.
At 12 years old, Spieth was just three strokes behind the leaders going into the weekend. A Texas Open and Charles Schwab winner, the AT&T Byron Nelson trophy certainly has a place on the 28-year-old’s Texas-sized cape.
“I’ve been trying to squeeze for years and it never worked. Last year, I think Sunday I really tried pressing, I knew I needed a low, I thought I just shot a under or something” , Spieth said. “In a good position, but who dares to say that 20 under isn’t leading at the end of the day, so I can step back. Get the ball in the fairway, you can really get to any pin anywhere. … there’s a pair of holes you have to watch a little bit and be careful with, but the rest of it is aim, aim, shoot. So it’s mostly hitting the ball.”
Scheffler shows determination
Golf is a game of misses. It’s not always how good your good is, but how bad your bad is sometimes. After a treble in 13th at par-4, world No 1 Scottie Scheffler saw his name drift outside the expected cut as he finished in 2nd bottom for the tournament.
What happens in the next 14 holes is exactly why Scheffler is the top player in the game at the moment. Playing this sequel at 7 under, not only did the former Longhorn of Texas play himself over the weekend, but better yet, he played against himself.
A four-time champion in the previous six individual tournaments, Scheffler moves into the second half of AT&T Byron Nelson with a chance to make his 2022 even more memorable. He’ll cut his job for him, but it’s time we stopped doubting the 25-year-old’s abilities.
You should probably bet on Hideki to win the PGA Championship
I’m lucky enough to be on CBS Media’s call ahead of next week’s PGA Championship, and some parallels with another major championship have come up so many times. Since Gil Hanse restored the Southern Hills in 2019, the desire to compare the property to Augusta National has become clear.

A multiple-time winner on the PGA Tour this season, Matsuyama’s neck injury has devastated his defense in Florida and the green jacket. However, he was able to finish the game in 14th place at Augusta National and currently leads the field in strokes reached at AT&T Byron Nelson. Well finally, if he somehow manages to get his third win of the season this week in Texas, you have to imagine his 35-1 bid will only be more expensive than in Oklahoma.

The big boys often get discounts because of the same name, and this is the case that is going to happen over the weekend. We entered Thomas at a similar pre-tournament number but the best value on the current odds table is definitely Lee. The defending champions have impressed alongside Spieth and Scheffler in the first two days and will have no problem falling short by three strokes in the final 36 holes.
