Zurdo Ramirez gives Ilunga Makabu challenge

Lightweight undefeated Gilberto Ramirez has taken on the challenge of WBC lightweight champion Ilunga Makabu.

Ramirez (43-0.29 KOS) seems to have grown tired and bored as he waits for a world championship opportunity and now wants to move up to the 200lbs weight class.

Last time ‘Zurdo’ won the WBA light-heavyweight match
Cuba’s Yunieski Gonzalez in the 10th round. WBA champion Dmitry Bivol now faces fellow Mexican Canelo Alvarez of Ramirez on May 7 in Las Vegas.

“I’m always ready to go up against anyone,” Ramirez said.

“I was hoping to be able to fight Bivol, but he took a different path. It’s disappointing for sure but I’m glad he’s paid off with Canelo. He’s a nice guy and definitely has a chance to change his life forever.

“Now going forward, as always, I’m ready to fight anyone from light heavyweight to heavyweight, and why not start with cruiser class? Golden Boy mentioned Makabu to me and if he had the ball facing me I would take that WBC title from him easily. Regardless of the weight difference, I will excel in skill, speed and beat him in every respect. “
