Zhong Yi announces $600 Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm F1.5 prime for full-frame camera systems: Digital photography review


Zhong Yi Optics announced the release Mitakon Speedmaster 90mm F1.5 . Lens, a quick manual, designed to be a more budget-friendly alternative to Leica’s Summilux M..

The lens, which will be available for Canon RF, Leica M, Nikon Z and Sony E mounts, is made up of nine elements in six groups, including two extra-low dispersion and two high-refractive elements. It also features a nine-blade aperture diaphragm, 110cm minimum focusing distance of 110cm (3ft8in), 67mm front filter thread, and an aperture range of F1.5 to F16.

The lens is entirely handmade, but Zhong Yi notes that it has tested an M-mount version that is suitable for Nikon and Sony cameras using autofocus adapters (such as the Techart TZM Thoe Techart TZM). -01/LM-EA7 and Megadap MTZ11) and it works in most AF modes, including face and eye detection AF modes. The lens is 74mm (3in) in diameter, 102mm (3.5in) long and weighs 770g (1.5lbs).

The Canon RF, Nikon Z, and Sony E mount versions retail for $599 and are available in black, while the Leica M mount version retails for $649 and comes in both black and silver. All mounting options are available for purchase through Zhong Yi’s online store and authorized Zhong Yi retailers.
