LiteGear has announced Auroris, a turnkey solution for overhead lighting.
Top lighting can be difficult to achieve without the right tools. While it saves a lot of time while shooting, getting it all organized can be a pain. Over the past decade, we have seen many more advanced and lighter LED fixtures in use. Now, LiteGear is looking to make the flagship luminaire more compact and expandable.

Janusz Kamiński recently used LiteGear’s LiteTile in West Side Story. It’s no secret that LiteGear’s panels are loved by videographers. Still, $25,990 is a lot of cash to spend on a 10×10 top light. It’s worth it?
A single two-color LiteTiles array costs about $4,000, and it has a denser array of LEDs than the Auroris. So if RGB lighting isn’t necessary, then you can also save money. Also, cheaper brands like Intellytech make some great large LED arrays like this one. Of them Mega-LC cost only $1,800. You can check out my review of their smaller RGB panels this. My review basically concluded that color accuracy was decent but not perfect. I’m not sure many professional sets would want the headache of combining Intellytech control boards with other sources.
I think this top light system will come in handy for small spaces that need a lot of light. Boom one menacing arm or install larger fixtures like SkyPanels add a lot larger quantity. Despite the attractive price, I am sure that this all-in-one package will be perfect for rental homes.
