The road to WrestleMania begins on Saturday night when WWE hosts its annual Royal Rumble event. For the first time since 2020, fans will be in attendance; they will be inside The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis to watch 30 men and 30 women each match to determine who will fight for the world title at WrestleMania.
There is an element of unpredictability to the event, as anything can happen this year. The “Forbidden Door” is opened for the women’s side as Impact Wrestling Knockouts world champion Mickie James will join the Royal Rumble. Will wrestlers other than WWE appear?
Other matches to watch out for are the world title fights. SHIELD brothers Seth Rollins and Roman Rings will clash for the Universal title later, while Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar will clash in a heavyweight bout for the WWE championship. Either one can enter the Royal Rumble, depending on how the night goes. Another championship struggle was women’s champion “Raw” Becky Lynch against Doudrop.

The night will begin with an opening show at 7 p.m. ET. The main WWE Royal Rumble 2022 card, which includes Royal Rumble matches, will begin at 8pm ET.

Seth Rollins definition. Roman Reigns adopts DQ, Reigns retains the Common Title
The Universal Title match opened the show, with Usos banned from the ring. Reigns coming into the ring for the first time, which is never a good thing as a champion. That won’t be a problem in the long run. Rollins appeared on the theme song t = The Shield, the entrance through the crowd and all. Mind games are definitely played. These two have great chemistry with each other, and this matchup is no exception.
Reigns tried to strike early, confused by Rollins’ mind games. Rollins was soon motivated after diving outside. The two did some throwback moves from their days in The Shield: Rollins hit Reigns with a Shield Bomb through the table, a lock bomb, and The Stomp. The one in jeopardy during the match, Reigns eventually took over, knocking out multiple hits on Rollins and then a power bomb. Rollins laughed at Reigns, which upset Reigns, a major theme of the night. After Reigns takes over, the pace slows down. That includes mocking and withholding the rest. Superman’s punch didn’t stop Rollins. In a beautiful reverse shot, Reigns then struck a spear from the outside, and Rollins struck an arthropod as he countered a spear from inside the ring. Reigns used Rock Bottom, but landed with a spear instead.
Rollins continued to laugh and tried to punch with Shield’s fists, and the confused Reigns was locked in the guillotine. Charles Robinson tried to help Rollins put his hand on the rope, but Reigns wouldn’t let go. The referrer called DQ. Reigns then hit Rollins in the back with a chair several times, much like how Rollins betrayed The Shield years before. Both had a great story up to the end, which could have added if it could have been done right.
