Workshop: Who is the best promoter in the UK right now and why?
Gary Logan (Former Southern Welterweight Champion)
What parts or fighters are the casual fans mostly talking about these days? Answer: a) Heavyweight b) Tyson Fury. In other words, Frank Warren is still the best in England. To sell out tickets to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Fury vs Derek Chisora after promising us Fury vs Anthony Joshua would do some work. That’s Warren for me.
John Fewkes (Former Central Area ultralightweight champion)
I think it’s hard to choose a promoter as they all offer different things to the sport. Obviously, Eddie Hearn and Matchroom would be the choice for most people based on their background and how much public attention they’ve captured with boxing over the last 10-15 years, but they have bring loyalty and humanity to the fighters in a smaller local way? advertising like Carl Greaves would? For me, I never missed my old school and schools like Frank Warren and Dennis Hobson. Because you can’t stay in this game for as long as these old school promoters who aren’t good at what you do.
Wayne Alexander (Former European Super Welding Champion)
I have to say Frank Warren, and not just because he promoted me during my 11-year career. Frank has a great following with fighters in every weight class, from prospect and domestic champion to world level and world champion, as well as the richest award-winning boxer in the sport. He also has a lot of experience and has worked with many TV channels. Being a top advertiser is about longevity and Frank has stood the test of time
Kieran Farrell (Former Central Area Lightweight Champion)
Kieran Farrell is the best promoter in the UK! But, if it weren’t for me, I’d have to say Frank Warren or Eddie Hearn. Frank is the Godfather of British boxing. He was there and always will be. Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn upgraded British boxing and brought it to the United States. As for who’s the best, I’m sitting on the fence.
