Workshop: Which British boxer would you choose to make a splash on the world stage in 2023?
Nate Collins (Commonwealth Featherweight Champion)
Honestly, it’s a tough one. I can say that although he has been a huge hit, I expect Joe Cordina to come back (from injury) and win back the world championship with a big statement. It was probably a standout British fighter for me.
Jamie Moore (Top Coach)
I really like Dalton Smith. He is a very talented kid. With a little more experience, I expect him to progress to world level by the end of next year.
Jason Cunningham (Former European Super Chicken Champion)
Joe Joyce is not far from competing for world titles. His division, heavyweight, is the largest division in world boxing and in it has a lot of character. I would love to see him win the world title. He is restless so his style can never be dull.
Joe Gallagher (Top Coach)
Natasha Jonas will be hard to follow after what she did in 2022, but I would pick Joe Joyce if he gets the chance, Anthony Yarde if he gets a nasty win over Artur Beterbiev in a few weeks, and Sunny Edwards if he gets the big names he’s after: Jesse Rodriguez, Juan Francisco Estrada and Julio Cesar Martinez. It will be good to see how he handles them.
