A small puppy lost in the woods in Romania won’t stand a chance against the coming winter on his own. Thankfully, a kind woman gave the puppy a second chance at life.
The little dog, nicknamed Forest Puppy, was spotted in the middle of the forest by some locals. They left food for the capsules, but they knew they needed to do more, so they called Elisa by Saved by Veterinarian.
When Elisa arrived at the scene, she found the small puppy near an old tire and another trash can. It was a sad sight and she was determined to get the dog out of those conditions.
However, the puppy has other plans. It doesn’t want anything to do with humans and refuses to approach Elisa or her partner. Not knowing what else to do, they left the dog food and decided to come back the next day to check in.
Elisa spent hours with the puppy, watching to make sure it ate the food she left behind and trying to make it comfortable with her. Despite her efforts, Forest Puppy still wants nothing to do with her – except, of course, to get some food.
Although it seems the dog is starting to associate Elisa with food, it still won’t allow humans to get close, so Elisa has no choice but to set up a dog trap. Winter is coming and it’s starting to snow, so they don’t have much time before the dog goes to the bathroom on his own.
Within hours, the trap was working and the puppy was safe! Elisa takes the little dog to a shelter and discovers it’s a girl. She named the puppy Willow and began working on it to get it used to humans.
Despite the shelter’s best efforts, Willow won’t relax. It is obvious that she is very shy and scared and doesn’t know how to react to human touch.
But then they had an idea. They decided to introduce her to other puppies and see how she reacted to them. Sometimes dogs will watch how other dogs are reacting to people and that helps them feel more comfortable.
Turns out, that’s exactly what Willow needed to learn to trust people! With other puppies around, Willow really came out of his shell and began to fall in love with the people who cared for him.
The shelter was able to list her for adoption so she could live out the rest of her days in a loving forever home.
