23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams was knocked out of Wimbledon 2022 in the first round after losing three sets to Frenchman Harmony Tan. Serena, who was awarded a wildcard for the tournament, lost the first set 5-7, but burst back into the competition by winning the second set 6-1. She had several chances to end the game in the deciding set, including serving for the match 5-4, but was unsuccessful in her attempt.
Tan came back from 4-5 to win the decisive set-break 7-6 in a super game to claim one of the biggest wins of her career. Even in the draw, Tan came back from 0-4 to finally hold a draw with a score of 10-7.
