The PC version will always be the optimal place to start a new life on the farm. For starters, this will always be the most up-to-date version of the game. So if any more patches appear and you want that extra content as soon as possible, this should be your main home.
It’s also the best way to play the game thanks to the mods. There is a strong community of people who make all kinds of supplements. Some add extra content. Others change the way things look. You can even enjoy unofficial “crossovers” that bring things like Pokemon. I fully believe that with the effort that fans put in, someone can spend the rest of their life with just Stardew Valley and still satisfied.

Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One versions of Stardew Valley all are great. Honestly, one is not superior to the other. (I say this as someone who owns two out of three and plays on all three.) Pick the console you like the most and use the most, and get it there.

For a mobile farming experience, you need to use the Switch or PC version of Stardew Valley. Which one you choose depends on a few things. Cellular ports aren’t bad, but you won’t get 1.5 on Android or always have easy access to those desired buttons on a phone or tablet.
If you don’t own the Steam Deck, use the Switch version of the game. Great! I spend most of my time playing it there. You can easily play it anywhere. Plus, there’s the option to dock to view your farm on a larger screen. (That’s very useful for multiplayer!)
If you own a Steam Deck, then use the PC port instead. This is because you can still take advantage of the mods! You will need to get SMAPI mod loader for the game, install it in Konsole, then get your mod and put it in Stardew Valley mods folder. Everyone updated Official wiki for the game with a great guide that will help you get through it.
Where should you play? Stardew Valley if you are a real good handheld connoisseur?
Vita version of Stardew Valley would be a good choice, because Vita means “life”.
More seriously, it’s really great on Sony handhelds! Yes, you are limited to versions up to 1.2. But you can still get additional farm updates, find spots to dig in your farm, enjoy more conversations with your spouse, and have more options when booking items. buildings on your farm.
